Calgary Girls Choir Society
Calgary Girls Choir Society, a registered charitable organization headed
by a board drawn from the community at large, supports the Calgary
Girls Choir. Although the Choir maintains a modestly financed administrative
infrastructure, its operations are largely conducted by enthusiastic
and dedicated volunteers.
Vision
The Calgary Girls Choir is dedicated to choral music and its choristers.
The choir strives to increase the skill and knowledge of its young women
while instilling in them a passion for music. The experience will be
remembered as challenging, diverse and fun. The choir will reflect diversity
in its music, music that will be world-class and constantly evaluated – “only
the best is good enough”. The choir’s effectiveness is measured
by its recordings, size and diversity of its audiences, financial health,
invitations for travel, and growth.
Mission
The Calgary Girls Choir is committed to presenting a unique musical
gift to the artistic life of audiences everywhere. The Choir strives
to be
a role model for others, and to inspire all young singers to meet the
creative challenge of choral music performance.
Dedicated to assisting girls through their development into young women,
the Calgary Girls Choir, through its commitment to the highest standards
of choral music achievement, produces young women who are confident
leaders. Their skills reach far beyond musical expertise - their
expression of
self-confidence, sense of self-worth and scholastic achievement are
demonstrable outgrowths of their choir experience.
